Yesterday, I went with a bunch of my friends to Grand Prix NY in Mt. Kisco. This is an indoor karting place which runs 9 HP gas karts.
Last month some of us went to "Pole Position" in Jersey City and ran their electric indoor karts.

The electric and gas karts are about even in terms of speed. My average speeds at yesterday's event (according to my timing slips) was about 30 mph. It felt a lot faster.

Most of the guys racing were vintage racers from VRG or SVRA plus some folks from the Ferrari Owner's Club.

It was good fun, but some of the guys are a bit rough and I came home with a bruised rib. Thankfully, all the "rough" guys are in another class (open wheel) that I don't race in.
All the regular guys I race with (Sprites, Minis, Spitfires, etc) are better, smoother drivers with almost no "pranging".

Thats pretty cool Nial,

When you come to "Pocono"; In a town called "Snydersville" there is a Gas Track down there called "Speedway" or something like that; I forget exactly but what a blast.

Its located on "Bus. RT 209" about 15-20min. drive from Pocono. If you were headed South on "RT.115" from Pocono; You will intersect "Bus. RT.209". At that Intersection bear Left & continue on Bus. RT.209 (Towards Stroudsburg). You`ll see the track on your RH side.

If I had the $$$; I`d open up one of those Tracks down here in the Greenville area & make a Fortune.

Might look into the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix. Same deal, indoor gas karts. Did a team event there a few months back. I can assure you they are not toys, but man are they alot of fun.
