Hello,
I'mplanning to buy some K&n chrome filters and I like the looks of the tapered ones that are 21/2 inches deep and tapered so the top plate is about 1/2 the size of the bottom.Does anyone have an opinion of this type and will it have enough clearance for my BJ7.Thanks,Ben /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Stay with stock filters. IMHO But if you must, K&N would be the way to go.. Cheers

Hi Ben,

The filter you describe "should" fit ok. The only way to know is to try one in both locations & see if it fits. You can always return it if it doesn't. You will probably have to adapt the rear filter plate to accommodatete the emission hose.

Stock filters will do the job if there is not any dust where you drive. The K&N will do a far superior job of removing fine dust particles which can reduce engine life by up to 50%. Depends on whether you drive in a dusty climate & how long you want the engine to last.
