Just venting a little - two things

I'm probably just getting old and crotchety but two things that really bug me. One is when people toss their garbage in the parking lot and are too lazy to walk to a trash can. Every time I go to Smiths, I end up picking up cups, bottles, etc on my way to the door. Second thing is when people are too danged lazy to return their shopping carts to the shopping cart return place. Ok, I lied - there are three things that bug me. Third is when people pickup clothing (shirts, pants, jackets, etc.) to hold them up to see if they fit, (at places like Costco for example), and they don't even try to put them back as they found them - they just toss them anywhere! (I guess I have flashbacks from my time in high school working at Arlen's Dept. store and I had to always come behind people and re-fold the cloths. Just plain laziness!

I've seen people just give a cart a heave across the lot and not worry where it ends up or hits. And worse, set it across an open spot or up against the car next to them just to be a jerk. I've given up on trash not in my yard, it's at best a holding action. Had someone in fact dump a load of old tires in the yard one night with a sign saying "don't complain, they're free".

We regularly have trash dumping trash in our BLM hiking trails. I'm talking people will literally go up there and dump appliances, furniture, etc. It's disgusting. (And don't get me started on how many face masks we find all over the trails)!

Iโ€™m currently on a bike trail and the only thing I saw on the trail was a snake ๐Ÿชฑ
Thankfully no trash.

Doesn't strike me as being old and crotchety. Both have bugged me long before getting old... only now some of the trash consists of masks (which is disgustingly rude).

Probably better maintained than the trails near our house - which are not maintained at all.

We've a dirt "access road" behind the hovel, one entrance. On the other side is "Protected Florida Wetlands." For decades we would find old mattresses, washing machines, the occasional stolen vehicle back there. In the last five years the county has finally put a locking gate at the entry. Now all we've got to deal with is the trash the ignorant a**holes toss from their cars as they drive past in front of the place. Happy Meals, beer cans and now those masks are starting to show up. I've caught a couple of the jerks and called 'em on their ignorance, been both yelled at as if it were my fault they're stupid, ignorant fools and apologized to. It's a crap-shoot.

Plaza parking lots? Yup, same things here. Ignorance abounds. Some people have no respect for anyone or anything, including themselves. "Ya can't fix stupid."

We regularly find beer cans and beer bottles in the ditch next to our house. Probably pick up a half dozen such items each week.

I think I know that guy! They arrested him:

Being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to
Get in the newspaper story about it. And they was using up all kinds of
Cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer's station.
They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and
They took twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles
And arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
One was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach,
The getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that's not to
Mention the aerial photography.

That sounds strangely familiar :lol2:

But just remember, there's blind justice so won't look at the color glossies. And the deputy will start to cry...

Ain't being, "seasoned", and knowing now obscure references great!!

Definitely one of those references that would right over the heads of folks born after a certain period.

I may or may not have spent time on the group W bench.

I understand your anger especially about the trash left on the ground. But I hesitate now to pick anything up. With the virus an new awareness of transmittable disease I donโ€™t pick up anything off the ground. All I can say is that I donโ€™t add to it.
Your story about the clothes counter brings back a funny memory to me. One day, alone, shopping for a sweat shirt I was โ€œrummagingโ€ thru some of them on a counter. Each one that I picked up I neatly folded back as it was. After looking at 3 or 4 a sales gal came over to me and said โ€œyour a keeperโ€. It went right over my head
cause i didnโ€™t know what she meant. So I asked, she said she never saw anyone take so much care in replacing the garments. ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks a lot. I usually only get that song stuck in my head on Thanksgiving now Iโ€™m going to have it twice this year.

You can get anything you want, at ?โ€™s ?

Iโ€™ll go with.................Other๐Ÿ™ƒ
