Getting in one of my tractors this morning I discovered someone last night stole abut 20 gallons of diesel from it. Never had that happen before. Had to happen in the wee hrs of the morning, as I just fueled it up last night and that tractor wasn't that far from the house. We live in a farm area, where everyone looks out for the other so they had to sneak in without the lights on. Man I hate a thief. Good thing they didn't know about the fuel tank I have behind the barn, it's not visible. :censored: Such is life, double barrel time.
 
Did any other neighbors have fuel stolen by the thief whose mom and dad aren't married? :rolleye:

Not that has been reported Elliot. Being it was diesel fuel, tells me it wasn't kids. The Sheriff has increased nighttime patrols in our area as of last night. Fuel has been stolen out of tractors in the fields left over night by others around here before and it's hard to catch the thieves. PJ
 
There are lowlifes everywhere, even in Oklahoma.
 
Were going to have dusk to dawn security lights installed by the electric company. It's a shame we have to do this, but really have no choice. A couple Deer cameras are a strong possibility also. PJ

Make sure you aren't making a $200 solution to a $20 problem. We had a bicycle stolen shortly after we moved here - brazen as they went into the backyard and a shed - that said, even in Toronto, we generally feel as safe as any community we have ever lived in. We all need to take the bad with the good but, generally, there is way more good. Not to be crass but unless you are staying awake nights, security cameras won't help ,much (yes I know you can look later) even locking gas caps might make more sense as typically you just need to slow the average thief down about 45 second and he/she will move on. My 2 cents
 
How about a life size cut out of Doc standing by the tractor??! :D
 
My in-laws had a duel tank van that was siphoned out quite regularly. We emptied the biggest tank and put almost full tank of water and topped with gasoline and put a locking plate on small tank. That way it smelled of fuel. Found neighbor kid down alley draining his tank, cops arrested him and it quit.

Locking cap and some flood lights on motion detection fixtures.
 
Just chain a Pit Bull to the tractor at night.

Doc, The place is lit up more now and am thinking of putting up a couple Deer cameras or some call them wildlife cameras. They photograph in the dark and automatically send all information and photos to your iPhone immediately. Have to program them for the wifes fancy phone, as mine is just one step up from a hand crank! :encouragement: PJ
