Just got my new old tach

I have a friend that does tach conversions. He converted my 4 cylinder tach from my Porsche 914 to a V8 tach for my V8 conversion. (I'm running a Porsche 928S V8 mid-engine conversion in my 914)

Here's the Tach he did for the Shealey! Cable to electric. Although he could have remade the face and detailed the tach to look new, I wanted it to look unrestored. I had him leave the flaws.

He works as an automotive engineer for one of the big 3. This is a side thing for him.

Don't quote me but plan on spending like $ 200.00 for the full mony I think. Cheap when you think about the look. It matches the other gauges and doesn't look like the cheap way out.

A working tach really adds to the look and finished feel of a project.

This is the Tach face he did for my 914 4 cylinder tach. I had him make a new face with the 928 red line when I had him convert to 8 cylinder. This plugged right into my MSD AL6! I can't fine the tach pics but the face pic is more discriptive.

Just got an eamil from Mark. He does have a web site. He told me it's being updated in the next couple of weeks. Most of the stuff there is Porsche related but he said he's ready to expand.

As much as I loved my 914's, and I've had many, I do prefer my bugeye :wink:


Off topic but do you have any pics of the 914? Would like to see a 928 engine in that bay.

How much of the rear trunk did you have to cut to get the V8 in there?

My last one was white with the same body kit. I didn't have Fuchs though :frown: I spend way more time here than I used to spend at Pelicanparts.com :laugh:

I thought I was going to have to loose the whole thing so I cut it out. Turned out I didn't need to remove it after all. So I put it back in with a twist.

I was hoping this spring, but I got called to work for a month or so. We'll see...
