Just got back from Maine...

...and apparently my trip coincided with the "Bar Harbor Invasion" of Minis! The first day I was there we saw a few minis parked together. It's unusual to see many of them at all here. Then I saw four parked together (from different states) by the water. This one from Connecticut kept popping up everywhere I went, sometimes with bikes on the rack too:

On our way south a pack of about 10 Minis went by us on the way to Bar Harbor. Looked like a lot of fun! We're already planning our trip back, maybe I'll make it for the next invasion /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I also found an MGC when we were there. It needed work, but it was relatively clean looking:

Your photos of your trip to Maine remind me of my Memorial Day Weekend trip to Massachusetts.

The wife is convinced that I'm totally obsessed since I showed her these photos of the recent fishing trip.

My college roommate trying to pull a cold one outside the British Beer Company.

A BSA inside the place.

A TVR parked alongside the road near the beach we went fishing at.

And finally proof that we actually went fishing. Bet you thought I made that up.

I'm happy to hear you had a good trip. Trips like the Mini event are pretty common in that area - especially during leaf season - and I've run across them unexpectedly several times. You'll be driving along and suddenly realize that nothing but Ferraris or BMWs or even Alvis's are coming the other way.

I think you made a good choice of destinations - it's really beautiful over there in Acadia.

Yup, it's definitely a "destination", as they say. We can't wait to go back, but I'll be planning to go slightly out of season, and as much as I'd like to ride around during the leaf season I can imagine the traffic would be pretty bad.

There were a ton of motorcycles there too. I figured it was just a place to go, then we found out it was bike week in NH and they were making side trips to Bar Harbor.

I walked off the airplane sunday afternoon and immediately wished I was back where it was cool. Can't wait to go back!

At least you got pictures of some british-iron. I saw a couple of MGs on the cape, but that was pretty much it out that way.

We started off at Cape Cod...ok, to be fair we started off with a picnic on I95 just before the GW bridge in NYC. Then we had desert at another picnic before the CT border...then we had afternoon tea at another picnic somewhere in CT (picnic=zero-movement traffic jam).

I a good chunk of most of my summers growing up on Cape Cod, my whole family is from up that way...but we never even bothered with the beaches - asking $12-$15 to park, forget it! Saw a few folks fishing, but mostly just did a quick sightseeing trip, then went through where my folks grew up on the way back.

Been going through pictures, thought I'd add a couple from the Maine portion of the trip. Coldplugs has a very nice part of the country to ride around and enjoy. One day I'll have to have the Miata and/or the MGB up that way (we did an online build of his-and-hers minis too, hehe). We're already planning a trip back.
