All I remember about the patch is it was influenced by one of these fellas. Sorry, too many years have gone by.

Another patch I had, NAS/JTTU Olathe Kansas.

A lot of years has a habit of dulling the brain a bit.

Tom that looks like an early photo with grass strips, when I was there in 55/56 they had a paved runway. Grass non-directional strips allowed taking off and landing in the wind when the instructor allowed it! Early Navy trainers, such as a Stearman for one, were ground loopers due to the very narrow gear and grass strips kept the damage down a bit. My 1943 Stearman (In later years) still had the original reinforced wing tips. Nice picture, thanks, Tom. PJ

26 months here on Leeward Point and another patch.

Castro and Batista were fighting at the time, We could hear shooting at times, and bodies were found on the fence line periodically.
