I have been doing some more cleanup to access the backs of the b pillars.
I have ordered new B-Pillar back panels from Moss Motors and should have them in the next couple of weeks.
I have the body scheduled for sandblasting the first week of March. It will give me enough time to do the major repairs to the body.
I also purchased a 140 Amp Mig Welder and have started learning to weld. It's not real pretty yet but up until a week ago I had never welded before.
I found that I have a 65 amp alternator in my boxes of parts. It is new and in the box. This actually helps me.
I have a modern ammeter. The original is non functional anyway but could be repaired..but this is what I think will work..
If I take the modern ammeter apart and use the needle and all the electrics in the old case and with the old face I would end up with an ammeter that will support 60 amps yet look original. The ammeter can be connected "backward" and would then operate backward (+ being a discharge and - being a charge situation). That ability would allow me to insert the new one into the old case upside down so the needle hangs from the top as in my original. The needle movement would read properly. I'll keep you posted on that one, but so far everything is working out well. I am working on restoring the face right now.

You'll love that MIG welder and all the projects you'll find to use it on! I bought mine to build a boat dock 20 years ago, and I couldn't even list all the times it has been indispensable.

Your plan with the ammeter sounds like it should work. Look forward to watching your progress...
