Can't get much better !!

Saturday out for a spin in the Six, lots of waves, smiles,
horn honks and some folks at a sidewalk cafe flag me over.
I pull a U-bee and park at the walk, going the wrong way
with my flashers so the cops think I'm broke down. A crowd
soon gathers, hood popped, some tall cold ones passed
around, "back in day" folks telling lies to the younger
crowd.

A shiny red Corvette buzzes by, hits his brakes into a long
squeal stop and reverses back to the cafe. An old geezer my
age, who owned a TR4 in college. More lies, more cold ones,
drove home at twilight. Two babes next to me at a light
blare their radio, I look over, they smile, I smile. Nice
day.

And FINALLY, AT last, this morning 7:00 AM I got my boat in
the water for some serious tarpon fishing. This picture
tells it all. A 45 minute fight, catch and released this
80+ pound warrior to fight another day.

Does it get any better???

So, when Mickey & I catch one, we'll cook it for dinner?

Nice looking fish!

Too prehistoric to be good food.

Holy giant fish!!! You may have won the fight Dale, but It looks to have cost you your neck!
hehehehe.
Sounds like a good day. Beats all the ice we've been trying to scrape off everything around here.

I......don't-think-you-eat-Tarpon. Like eatin Choupique, or Gar.

Talk about prehistoric, ever tried Sturgeon? I think it's nasty stuff like shark meat. Stinky and tuff, just like me.

Well other than adding "won the lottery" to that mix, it doesn't get much better.

I have a friend who is a shark fisherman. His wife makes buttered, broiled Shark Steaks for me when I visit. It has become one of my favotite sea-foods. Very mild flavored and tender.

Gar and White Fish used to be popular fish in the Great Lakes area of MI, USA when I was a Child. Unfortunately they became overfished and I have not seen either one in decades.

Sturgeons are still around here in greatly reduced numbers. I've seen them while swiming or scuba diving - massive, but peaceful fish.

Dale...heard right after that pic you were off for hernia repair...nice!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif

Tony, you have to get Dale to take you out for some of those Cobia or Dolfin he has been showing off in pictures, if you want some good eating!!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Mike,

It's been mighty grim when it comes to Dorado (dolfin)
and Cobia are not caught here.

All those blasted east coast winter storms have our seas
in constant small craft warning mode. The Dorados are few
and they are 20 miles offshore. Even the large charter boats are not going offshore.

A buddy fishes south shore, outside 15 miles and brings us
fresh Wahoo. Mighty tasty- better than Dorado, in my opinion.

Is that anywhere near Palmas Del Mar?, Dale

You must golf weewillie. PdelMar is a right pricy golfing
community. The Mrs and I cannot even affort to live in the servant's quarters of the homes in PdelMar.
