It struck me that it might be a cool resource if we had a voluntary surrogate buyer service. 8000 people across the country means that there should be someone near the car you want to buy. No more nasty surprises on eBay...

With that in mind - is anyone near Colorado Springs? There's a car I'm bidding on that I'd really like someone to have a look at. If you can help me out, pm me.

alan - I've been appraising eBay cars in my area for lots of years now....but that might be a good list to start - or you could check 'theList' on my site to see if there are MG owners - not necessarily BCF members - in the area.

...Which brings up something I've thought about for a while, but haven't asked:

Is there a way to list members by location?

I know there's an alphabetical list of members, but it might be helpful in cases like this, or when traveling, to know who's where (assuming they entered the info when registering, of course).

You can sort the user list by location. Problem is, nobody entered their location in a standard format. So everyone would have to re-enter it.

Exactly.

That frappin map has deleted me twice. Looks like Keoke is off the map too. Unfortunately in more ways than one. :frown:

:iagree:

This drove me carzy when I tried to find out how many British British Car Forum Members there were... Some just put down a city (London) or a county (Essex) or a country (Scotland, England...), not to mention the use of both UK and Britain for the whole... and then there were sundry combinations thereof.... :wall:

It was an awful lot easier asking if the were any members from Kazakistan....

Any member here can pose the queston in the appropriate Forum to find help with a car inspection.

Although we don't have active members who will inspect in every town, there are probably a large number who are willing to do so.

I'm availble for an inspection in the central VA area, and would be glad to do so. Tons o' fun, I think.

Also, I accept payment in Scotch whisky, preferably the kind that's aged in sherry casks, cask strength, with a wee drip of branch water.

Hey, I'll be happy to inspect any Bayamon, Puerto Rico
TR6 suspension system. A plate of Lechon as payment!!

Hey Dale, you see there's a guy on the 6-pack email list selling a parts car in PR?

Perhaps you can get a stablemate for Amos. You have enough spare parts there to rebuild another one without spending another cent..

I was going to suggest Dale get the overdrive transmission and the hardtop from Victor (didn't sound like much else was worthwhile). No more leaky soft top in those wretched warm downpours.

I started the frappin Map on the BMWMOA forum and it has changed so much that it doesnot show all the members at one time anymore.
