just a reminder when you do your brakes

Before you try bleeding the brakes, make sure you have remembered to reconnect all of the hoses to all of the pipes.

Brake fluid gets kind of expensive when you are pouring it on the floor.
 
good tip.
Also when disconnecting the oil pressure guage, remember to rehook up the oil line to the guage when you are finishing up the job.

bet all of us have these "from expierience" tips.
 
Maybe like when you are trying to pull a brake drum, remember to release the parking brake.. It will come off much easier.
 
If using the button on the back of the solenoid to bump the engine have the gearbox in neutral... your right foot will thank you.
 
And don't forget to put the oil drain plug back in before you start filling the crankcase with new oil. Have you ever seen what five quarts of oil looks like on the garage floor. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif
 
Or don't start drinking beer with friends immediately after a 45 minute struggle removing a screw on oil filter. When after several beers, one friend wants to hear the difference between a stock and a Falcon exhaust. Hmmm, no oil pressure....
I haven't seen five quarts, but I've seen three.
 
Dont let the coil wire on a TR3 rub up against the speedo cable. Eventually the speedo needle will mysteriously swing to 100mph and the motor will go dead.
 
Here at The High Speed Triumph Research Laboratory, we perform many experiments on Triumphs in an effort to save the TR community from frustration.

For example, after exhaustive research, The Boffins found that the engine will NOT start if the anti-mouse plugs are not removed from the carburetor velocity stacks. We think that the engine must require air in order to operate, but this theory is still being tossed about in committee.

We do not expect to gain fame or fortune from this reaearch, it is enough to know that we have contributed our mite to the Triumph community as we relentlessly pursue knowledge.
 
Re-install ALL FOUR road wheels before lowering the car to the ground (unless its a Citroen in which case 3 out of 4 is fine).
 
When installing the new freshly painted hood remind your helper several times that the shorter bolts go in the side, the longer ones go in from the bottom.
 
Don't ever tell a new service station employee to 'fill the crankcase' while allowing him to operate the bulk oil dispensor without proper supervision.

A '57 Pontiac actually holds over five gallons of oil...
 
Clean you crank thoroughly after having it turned. Fortunately, this didn't happen to me, but two friends each had it happen that a shaving dropped from a journal and locked the motor up tight.
 
Be shure you dont mix up sides with your wire wheels hubs as you will certainly be overpass by one of your own wheel (3 out of 4 might work but a drum is a little noisy on asphalt!!!)

when demating electrical connections, (especially from a unit that has multiple spade connectors that can be mis-mated to the wrong terminal) Label every connector so they go back exactly where they came from, don't rely on your memory.
