Junkpile B project

Junkpile B is progressing and hopefully on the road soon. It now has more competition for my time with the new, green addition to the fleet. Triumph Stag went away and a green Elf came to stay. I don't know if Santa would approve of trading a reindeer for an Elf, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Those things are really starting to grow on me. I better burn the checkbook. Not that there's any money in it anyway. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

That Nissan looks pretty lonely sitting among 4 real cars. Hopefully two of them will be sitting in my driveway instead of yours very shortly.

Great picture! Looks like you are on a very quit part of the street. Comes in handy for the collection!

I spent last Monday and Tuesday evenings trying to get as much "laying on the back" work done as I could possibly get done. This included bolting in the transmission, driveshaft, exhaust system, clutch slave and wiring.
On Wednesday I had a 6" x4" slice removed from my back(I have pictures, but owing to the family nature of the board, won't post them here) to dispose of a malignant melanoma (GOOD RIDDANCE!). Found out yesterday that associated lymph nodes are clear:smile:
Today I managed to put all the little pop rivet chrome trim fasteners on the car AND got the trim strips on. I felt like that was a major accomplishment. Just a few things left and we'll see how she runs
So many projects, so little time.

I'd think getting rid of the malignancy & having everything else pronounced clear would be the major accomplishment!! Congrats on that!

How long before you can get on your back under a car again?

I'd agree to that. Congrats.

Steve, I wish you'd had more free time when you were here. A fellow in town has several Elfs for sale along with a bunch of Minis and the odd Morris or two.

I don't know how long before I'm back under, but we did manage to pull, inspect and repack the front hub bearings on the green elf this afternoon. I was mostly the technical advisor, but I did manage to get dirt under the fingernails. You just get a little fidgety when you can't dig right in.

Work is moving along on this project, but has slowed. Surgery has taken some of the spring out of me, and I get to go in thursday to have more lymph nodes removed. Seems some advanced testing was"inconclusive", so out they go!
I need to get the dash in, wiring finished, brakes bled and the carbs on and it should run and stop. Then some trim work and off we go. Before and current picture shown.

Coming along great. Did you paint it yourself? How bad was the rust originally?

Looks like a real runner.

I still say that body was not a junkpile! Way too solid!

Tony is correct about the junkpile term. It really only needed the rear doglegs replaced. It is the kind of body you really want to get when looking for a restoration project. It may get restored someday, but for now is going to be a driver. It sports a "driveway" paintjob.
Bruce

I just sent bcliff a personal e-mail, and will post the jist of the e-mail for all to see. I will be doing a "driveway" paint job also, due to lack of a garage. Anyone want to suggest a lasting primer system that will hold up to weather until I am ready to put the finish coat on? It may have to last until the spring of '08.

Two part epoxy primer.
