Took the Alfa and the Triumph out for their bi-monthly outings today in the cold weather. Both ran perfectly but the TR6 speedometer cable was making its usual jumpy self. It was a replacement that I put in over a year ago for a broken cable. For example, it oscillates between 40 and 44. It was like that from day one. AFAIK the inner cable is not kinked. I squeezed some powdered graphite into the cable but it did no good. Is there any quick fix or do I just live with it?

The only other things, make sure the ends are on snug, though I have had some where there is a happy place where there is less bounce between snug and tight. Lastly the if the little wheels that turn the numbers for the odometer or speedometer are tight they can make it bounce from the variations in load created as they cycle through each little click click turn turn.
I took mine apart and turned the trip odometer wheels and lubed them with some very light oil and it seemed to help.
