This is a new one on me. How many know of this car?

And this one? Supposedly a racing version from New Zealand.

Saw one here last weekend.

Flat 4 engine.

Doing more checking on the cars, I'm amazed of the following for this make. I've never seen one at a show around here, but there seems to be some in the States and Canada. I wonder why the radiator was put behind the engine rather than in front? Not a very efficient set up. Mack truck found that out with their Bull Dog model. Used to boil over on hot days, right in the drivers face! How do I know? My dad used to drive one when he was young. Back to the Jowett, I wonder if Moss would have parts for one? Joke, Joke.

You may find these pix reprinted from a 1954 publication, "All the World's Cars - 1954"...

That 1954 article is sad, because of course the R4 never made it into production. Would have been a real winner if it had!

There were quite a few Jowetts around when I was young in England, and their "sisters under the skin", Bradford vans.

A former student has one. He had it restored for a meeting of the Jupiter club at LeMans. It was the anniversary of their victory in the 24-hour race. Not overall, it was in Index of Lack of Performance.

He also has a Dellow.

B.S. Levy mentions them several times in his "Last Open Road" books. He has a neat way of adding lots of obscure automotive history to his stories. I don't remember ever seeing one in person, But I've seen pictures of several. Better looking than the Nash-Healey in my opinion.

there's one in central ON that I've seen at Ancaster & Bronte once or twice

The more I read about this car, the more interesting it gets. Quite a car with a interesting history. Seems it was raced quite extensively. Not cheap, around 30 to 40 Gs for a running model overseas and then there's shipping! Oh well.

Couple of photos; I like the dash!

There's a couple around here, mostly owned by a select few, that have made a name for themselves in local racing.

We've had similar cars make names for themselves in local racing. Usually something like 'roving chicane'....
