Here's an interesting idea.

"With Jott, a user can call a toll-free number and dictate a message up to 30 seconds long. The resulting audio file is transcribed by workers in India, and its contents are sent to the user as an e-mail or text message. " - Technology Review

I'm still trying to figure out why you'd want to do that. If you have a phone (land or cell) handy, couldn't you just "leave yourself a voice message"? Seems that too many unnecessary steps of resistance are going into our human circuits these days, for the sake of "digital coolness".

I don't know... if I could arrange to have them send me urgent messages at specific times to get out of meetings it could be priceless!

Why out-source the transcribing to India? Seems like work that could be done right here!

I love technology....Bic ball point technology and Mead paper technology.

In my past life (before retirement) our office complex had a wireless network most everywhere and at many meetings (the kind that drag on all day) I would tire of the process and send a text message from my laptop to my own cell phone...which would be laying on the conference table next to my laptop...in silent (vibrate) mode. Being a GOOD and CONSCIENTIOUS manager I would excuse myself so I could go fight the fire. Hey...it worked for me!
