Wow,

I didn't know, we would see him up until a couple of years ago boxing aganist various lamp posts here.

Very sad, and he was taken to the Hospital where I work and I hadn't heard anything, thanks for letting me know.

geebee 1, having grown up in sheepshead bay (very close to coney island), when i was about nine years old my dad introduced me to "kid dundee" right in front of "nathans", he gave me a hand shake that felt like a mixture of steel wrapped in weathered leather yet gentle, he was quite a character. years later my dad also introduced me to "two ton tony galento" but thats another story.

I don't know...If I make it to 104, I would rather be hit by a van on my morning 5 mile walk, than in a nursing home or a hospital waiting.....

Tony, that is so cool, I used to catch him while getting off the belt at Cropsey shadow boxing a lamp post. The memories of this place. I am very close by in Seagate.

I totally agree with you Terri. What I wanted to say was that it was a sad ending to a good life but when I typed it ,it didn't sound deserving enough.

Re: Joseph "Kid Dundee” Rollino dies....

gb1,yes i remember you telling me that you live very close to my former dwelling, i once rented a house in "sea gate" for a long summer with a couple of buddy's, oh the stories!, if told here on the forum "BASIL" would have my head, "the kid" always showed up at the "mermaid parade" held every june, id gone several times and we had a blast seeing all the characters in costume, id often see the kid hanging around "pats pizza" on the bay road, my mom went to school with pat so a free slice was always available if needed after boating in the bay, or swimming and diving of the bay walking bridge, im afraid it could never be the same, too bad. i wouldnt change one second of my growing up in that area at that time, :savewave:
