Jointing Compound

Would someone please recommend the best modern equivalent for the "jointing compound" that is called out in the TR4 shop manual?
Specifically, for packing the rear sealing block and the rear oil seal?
Thanks,
Bill

I believe the TR3 manual specifically mentions "Wellseal", which is still available from TRF (though a bit pricey).

I use Hylomar for pretty much everything except the felt packing on the sides of the rear main cap and the "figure of 8" gaskets, where I use Permatex #3 "Aviation Form-a-Gasket".
