John's Bugeye

John - should your photos get larger when I click on them?

I dunno Tony. I think there are image size requirments to upload.

There are three versions of every image uploaded: Thumbnail, Medium and Large. The medium is the size you see in the post, and the Large is what you see when you click the image to open it in a separate window. The max size for the "Large" version of an image is 1200 pixels on a side. If an image is uploaded bigger it than that it will be resized. John's image was smaller to begin with when uploaded.

Basil

Well, something's wrong then because the 2nd & 3rd photos won't go to the size of the large one above them.....but everyone else's does.

The middle picture for example, when clicking to get the large version, is 320 x 240 pixels which suggests that was the size of the image originally uploaded. It won't make images any bigger than what you started with, but it will resize them down (to a max of 1200 pixles wide I think) if a larger image is uploaded. So, if you upload an image that is, say 300 pixels wide, then it will be 300 pixels wide max when its uploaded. But if you upload a monster image that is, say, 2400 pixels wide, it will get resized to 1200 pixels wide (which is the max). So John's images were probably smaller to begin with would be my guess.

BUt now ther eis another problem. At least on my end, when I try to click on one of the other images in his post, it shoudl show that image in the main body of teh post, but it doesn't. Instead I get a java error. It was working a few minutes ago, but now it isn't. John, did you edit your post somehow? Basil

Basil,

I'm not sure what size the photos were (on my other PC), but I did start with small ones. I can try later to put the larger ones up. Also, I did edit the thrid photo. (one with B & Bug) I had another photo there, then replaced. it.

I just learned there is a bit of a bug in the script if you have any special characters in a file name, especially an "&" . Be sure when you upload pictures, that the file names don't containt spaces or special characters. Something like MeandMyB2007.jpg is ok, but something like "Me & My B 2007.jpg" will probably break the java script code. They are working on a fix but in the mean time, it's probably best to not have special characters of any sort in your image file names, just letters and numbers without spaces.

Basil

Hmm, in looking at your files, it does not looko like you have an "&" in the file name, so I'm not really sure why it doesn't like it.
