Jimmy Carter, passed Dec. 29th.

Agree!

Keeping politics out of this, but I will say I respected him as a decent, good man who served his country throughout his life. His work with Habitat for Humanity was especially notable.

He was a good man, and his legacy will be his generosity of spirit and commitment to those in need.

"When I first met Jimmy [Carter], the first thing he did was quote my songs back to me. It was the first time that I realized my songs had reached into the establishment world. I had no experience in that realm, never seen that side, so it made me a little uneasy. He put my mind at ease by not talking down to me and showing me that he had a sincere appreciation of the songs that I’d written." -- Bob Dylan

Great man: humble and a servant to the world. Not many like him; he took his "star-power" as an ex-president and worked hard to make the world a better place for all.

(Obviously feelings will be mixed of his presidency - however I'll raise a glass to his legalizing home-brewing beer, eliminating prohibition-era law. Cheers! > Homebrewing Community Remembers President Jimmy Carter <)

RIP

HA! And I remember well... BILLY BEER!

A friend tried some of that back in the day, swirled it around his mouth, spit it out, and said "I think the horse has diabetes".

Saw Carter on tv several years ago and he said his last ambition was to eradicate the guinea worm before he died. He almost got it. I think the world was down to 17 cases last year.
