Jimmy Carter, passed Dec. 29th.

Keeping politics out of this, but I will say I respected him as a decent, good man who served his country throughout his life. His work with Habitat for Humanity was especially notable.

He was a good man, and his legacy will be his generosity of spirit and commitment to those in need.

"When I first met Jimmy [Carter], the first thing he did was quote my songs back to me. It was the first time that I realized my songs had reached into the establishment world. I had no experience in that realm, never seen that side, so it made me a little uneasy. He put my mind at ease by not talking down to me and showing me that he had a sincere appreciation of the songs that Iโ€™d written." -- Bob Dylan

Great man: humble and a servant to the world. Not many like him; he took his "star-power" as an ex-president and worked hard to make the world a better place for all.

(Obviously feelings will be mixed of his presidency - however I'll raise a glass to his legalizing home-brewing beer, eliminating prohibition-era law. Cheers! > Homebrewing Community Remembers President Jimmy Carter <)

RIP

HA! And I remember well... BILLY BEER!

Saw Carter on tv several years ago and he said his last ambition was to eradicate the guinea worm before he died. He almost got it. I think the world was down to 17 cases last year.

A friend tried some of that back in the day, swirled it around his mouth, spit it out, and said "I think the horse has diabetes".
