Jet Hot?

HI

i have been watching an mg is born....again and i see that Mark has his header coated with Jet Hot.
im wondering since i must put a new exhaust on my B this spring is coating the header worth the cost? im going to put on a full Peco exhaust if that matters

Thanks Ray

Ray, I'm a big fan of that type coating. I've had my race exhausts done inside and out. It keeps the under bonnet temps down, and provides a nice looking and durable finish.
But, it ain't cheap. This is ultimately going to be your call on whether it's worth it.
Watched the video AGAIN, eh? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Have your headers discoloured at all since you had them coated? I ended up going with a black ceramic coating on my headers because my local guy that does this type of thing wouldn't guaranttee the lustre of the chrome-like finish over time.

thx
Darren

Jeff - What's the cost for this? This isn't the first time this has come up here, but I haven't seen $$$ figures.

Darren, they have been fine so far. But, they aren't shiny chrome, either. They're more of a semi-gloss silver.

Exactly my experience......And when something drips on them and burns, it is easy to remove the stain.

The biggest thing I noticed was the decrease in under bonnet temp..

I don't even have to use a heat shield now.

I would highly recommend! (Inside & out)

Yup. A really well spent bit of cash. Temps lower, efficiency rises, "cleanup's a snap!"

They stay good looking forever, too (the least of my concerns).

Yea....It's like bling fur yer tail-pipe. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Rick -

The coating job for my TR8 (dual headers) was around $180. I had them done in the bright silver color, and after a little over 100 miles, they're just now starting to dull a bit. However, their appearance isn't as important to me as the extended life and reduced temps. Money well spent...

Ceramic coating is the way to go. I prefer Airborn Coatings to that from Jet Hot. From what I understand, the fella who started Jet Hot, sold it and started a new company called Airborn. He developed a better way of doing things and it was more practical to sell off the old company and start a new one.

HPC does mine, and it seems that the entire exhaust for a Spridget, inside and out was around 200 bucks. (No muffler, of course.)

I would definately go with the JetHot. A lot of good reasons to do it...cooler temps underhood, keeps the header looking brand new, header will last longer (isn't Peco stuff mild steel?), easy to clean, better gas flow. Just all around a great product, and in my experience it is VERY durable and will last a LONG time.

Ditto on JetHot!

thanks for the input everbody
i think im going to jet hot the exhaust

and Jeff watching An Mg is Born has started to become a sunday ritual around here
