That's great! This morning headline in local paper: "Citywide Manhunt for Suspect in Officer Shooting". An Albuquerque officer pulled over a suspected drunk drive. The man got out of a silver SUV and opened fire hitting the officer twice. One in the torso and once in his chest (fortunately he had a vest on that stopped the one to the chest).
 
What's wrong with people today! Seems like all respect for our police forces along with our military personnel is almost non existent anymore by the average citizen. These people put their life on the line every day to help and protect our nation and the general public. Their heroes in my book! But I'm from the old school, were a declining breed I guess. :censored: PJ

I do not agree.

I think the average citizen respects the police and the military.

And I would say that the type of person who would attack a police officer is decidedly non-average (thank goodness).

I do think that sometime television news shows "jin up" some of these stories to get good ratings, so it may seem like this stuff is becoming more common.
For example, crime is down in New York City (~citation~), but you would hardly know that from some of the local news shows (the term "news show" being a real stretch in my view).
