Jersey trailer parks?

Just saw a blog on yahoo were a woman said up to 1000 people may need resque somewhere in a jersey. Some were supposedly on the roofs of trailers.

I'm wondering if this story started out as some guy needs a new roof for his $1000 trailer in Jersey.
 
This is a serious question, are there trailer parks in Jersey? I would think theor zoning laws wouldn't allow it and it would be too cold for a trailer.
 
The storm didn't exactly maintain a strict adherence to damaging specific zoning ordinance areas only, Billy. :eeek:

FWIW they have them in Ontario - though increasingly municipalities are cracking down and saying that people can only live in them 6-8 months a year as they don't comply with building standards.

That surprises me knowning how NJ is. Kelly received a nasty letter from the NJ town she lived in. Apparently her dog license had expired and they were going to revoke her pooches.

I'da liked to have seen that... :smirk:

We still have a few trailer parks here in Calgary, but they seem to be disappearing, no one seems to want them anymore... We have lost some of them in recent years, not to be replaced...

One person I met a few years ago in southern Manitoba (a cold climate), lived in a double-wide house trailer on a small rural property and loved it! He joked to me that after all the effort to get it onto his property it may as well be a permanent house anyway

But I do know that lots of farms these days forego building a permanent house, instead bringing in a double-wide house trailer, and they can be insulated for winter weather quite easily

Heck, I know of some people here in hinterland who winterize their RV's and do some winter camping, especially ski bums who want to be close to the mountains all the time...
 
The wife and I have a 40 foot motor home and we lived in it for 9 months while our house was being built and it went right through the winter. Cost of heating it wasn't that bad, It has combo electric/gas heat and is very well insulated. BUT, after about 3 months, it kept getting smaller and smaller, after 9 months, it felt like living in a shoe box! Have no idea how someone could live in one of these things permanently. :crazy: PJ
