Buick eventually switched their odd-fire V-6 to an even-firing one in '78 or '79, IIRC. Stuffed up with emissions, the even-firing V-6 wasn't that good. We had one in a '79 Buick Wagon that stalled constantly until it reached operating temperature. No mechanic was ever able to get it to stop stalling. I think I probably could figure it out with the knowledge that I have now. My guess is the automatic choke was fubar on the car.
