Got a 96 Jeep Cherokee Electrical ?

First, I hate working on my Jeep because I could be playing on an British car instead.

That being said, I have replaced the headlight switch lately (know the ground wire is off), it likes blowing the headlight fuse, front marker light is missing.

Problem is when I press the brakes the parking lights come on, when I turn on the parking lights, the brake lights come on.

Can anyone give some direction, so that I can limit the time spent on him and spend more time playing.

All suggestions are appreciated.

Now off to try and find the battery on my MINI to reset the computer.

Thanks,
Patrick

PS yes I do neglect my daily drivers a bit so that I can work on my LBC's /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif

One of your brake light filaments has blown and is now
connected to the park light filaments... Replace both
brake lamps...

And check/clean the taillamp assembly grounds, just fer luck.

Thanks guys, heading out for new bulbs.

MINI goes to dealer since it is still covered under the warranty, but I will have to sink a couple of hundred for something (arghhh BMW).

Worked fine, blown bulb. Jeep back, MINI needs to go dealer, at least now I have a daily runner.

Out to play with some fun stuff now hehehe.

Doc been running 'round in a friends 944T puttin down 325 to the wheels today, gotta love it and better yet can drive it without owning.

Many thanks,
Patrick

I had a ton of electrical problems with my old cherokee, and thats saying alot coming from an LBC owner! Ended up replacing the entire tail light wiring harness after the smoke came out /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I had lots of fun getting my CJ5 to light up. Being a farm jeep for 15 years, lights were a secondary concern. But it's been well behaved since the initial sorting out.
Now my old 85 cherokee never gave me any electrical problems.
Glad to hear yours was minor.

Excellent, I have an amusing story about the same problem
in a friends Jeep, he had the entire interior out on the
driveway looking for the "burnt wiring" that was causing
the exact problem you've had, I stopped by and asked if
he'd tried different bulbs in the tail lights...
Nope, hadn't occurred to him because the brake lights
worked, and so did the parking lights... He had been
working on it for about 6 hours...

NOW We're talkin!!!

BTW: Th' +2 made a monkey outta a 944T in th' day. We put 'em "Head-to-Head" at Nelson's Ledges. Turn'd out th' Porsche was *waay* overpriced. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

...That's just for YOUR consumption, Pat! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
