Hi

I have an old sports car "special" built back in the 1950s.
it looks like it had a austin 850 motor like in a bugeye ,

I only got an engine block and a frozen transmission ,

So does anyone know a small Japanese motor and 4/5 speed that is about the same size ?
The motor needs to be not very tall and I think the latest overhead cam motors will be too tall and the front hood will not close,

Any ideas ?

Thanks for your thoughts

Mr Beaulieu....

"""I have an old sports car "special" built back in the 1950s."""""""""

Just what is it that you have.....?? Name, paperwork, peoples name etc.

in the 714.

Is it a rear wheel driver or ...??

Maybe a 20R out of a late 70s Toyota truck or Celica. It may still be too tall though...
Almost all of your Japaneese imports are going to be OHC.
Maybe a 1600 out of a Datsun Fairlady. there's a pushrod with a possible 5 speed. but parts are a bit tricky to come by.
What's wrong with say a 1275 out if a Midget, or a 1500 Spitfire engine? replacement and modification Parts are readily available, and it'll be closer to the original concept.

I think the Datsun 210 had 1200cc pushrod engine, that's going back aways so I could be wrong.

We want pix!
