Jake LaLanne RIP

A real man's man. He was inspiring and a great self-promoter. By most accounts, a good person, too. What a character! I always admired him. He must have inspired countless thousands of people to exercise and become healthier, happier. He surely did inspire me.

From the MSNBC article:

"When he turned 43 in 1957, he performed more than 1,000 push-ups in 23 minutes on the 'You Asked For It' television show. At 60, he swam from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco -- handcuffed, shackled and towing a boat. Ten years later, he performed a similar feat in Long Beach harbor."

"The only way you can hurt the body is not use it," LaLanne said. "Inactivity is the killer and, remember, it's never too late."

One of these people who you wish could just go on forever, and one of the most squared-away guys on the planet.

RIP, Jack.

Saw him just recently, he was a guest on some morning show pushing the juicer. I figured he was heading for 100, sad he didn't make it. P-nemonia. fooey.

He had a great life... hope I live that long and am just as healthy.
