Jaguar XJR-15 & BMW M1

Both cars were designed with their own racing circut in mind. By purchasing one, you were buying a season of racing it against the others that ponied up for them. I can't recall the price on the M1 but it seems the Jag went for a cool mil in the early to mid '90's. (not sure about the numbers.) I know because of lusting for the jag in my youth, and I just saw a speed channel show on BMW Motorsports a coupla months ago.

The real answer is that there is no direct connection (to the best of my knowledge). The M1 was sold as a road car in order to make it eligible to race in Group 5 (where they require a certain number of road cars to be built before you can also race it). For various reasons, I won't get into, this never worked out for BMW at this time.

At this point, doing some quick research, I can't find anything about the Jaguar XJR15. But to the best of my knowledge the M1 project was always exclusive to BMW and never had a connection to any other company (other than Lamborghini who was to have been the assembler for the M1, before they ran into financial trouble).
