Jaguar Distributor Cap for Healey

I have a DM6A Lucas distributor and would like to replace the side loading original cap with a top loading cap. Someone (I think here?) mentioned that a Jaguar XJ6 distributor cap would work. However, I cannot find the post and I am not sure which cap to order. If XJ6, which year, series and etc.

Can anyone help? Thank you!

Hmmm, my brain says Triumph TR6. Don't know why.

Quick Moss search shows the same part # for the XJ6 as well.

The push-in caps only fit the later distributors - D22 and D25 as are used on the TR6, BJ8, Jags of that era, etc.

Unfortunately only side-loader caps available for DM6A. I would love to be proved a liar on this.

Might want to check with Jeff Schlemmer at Advanced Distributors. If they're available, he'll have them.

I purchased my Top loader and plug wires from Jeff at Advanced Distributor. He recommended a Top loader if your using a Pertronix.

The switch to D25 occurred with the MK2. I have a MKI with a DM6A.

From what I have discovered so far, and with some confirmation from British Parts Northwest, the top loading distributor cap isn’t available for the DM6A, but it is for the D25 - Just as you pointed out, Steve

A new(ish) top loading cap is installed on my BJ-7 DM6A distributor which replicates what was there when the Healey was acquired in the early 80s. On box Part No. XD57 "Distributor Cap" appears to be a Moss label# 872-802 GDC106. To make good HT contact, small brass washers are needed to retain the HT wire element when the end caps are screwed in and secured. Sort of a hassle. Perhaps there's a better way to retain HT leads in their respective holes. Hope this helps. GONZO.

Box must be incorrect. Moss online shows 872-802 as normal generic side loader for DM6A.

Screw-in top entry caps per your description are shown for XK120-150 on P93 of the Moss XK catalog.

They use the flared copper wires and washer same as Healey 100s - not modern push-in wires suitable for Pertronix.

Apologies for the confusion. Realized that this was the box for a side terminal cap which I happened to use to store the top terminal one that came with the car. I run points and 7mm ACCEL Super Stock wires with small portion of core exposed and flared under brass washer on each terminal.
