For restoration purposes, was the diff in the 65-66 Jag a reddish color?
If so, would anyone have the correct paint and/or codes for this?

Computerworks, here is a picture of an original Jag Diff. I don't know the code for this, but it might help you pick a color that is close. The next picture is of my own IRS. AS you can see I chose a brighter shade of orange just because I liked it. It is just GM (Chevy) orange engine paint. I just liked it better than the duller paint. I'm not trying for concours, just want to be close and to look good.

Interestingly enough the differential in my 24,000mi original, unrestored XK120 roadster has a color exactly like the one in the picture above of an original e-type rear-end. That is deffinitely the correct color.

Thanks for the reply.

The color, as you displayed, looks right.

In speaking with some restorers, I was referred to a Red Enamel paint by Glyptal as being the 'right stuff'.

Not only colored correctly (almost :smile: ), but it acts as a sealer for the aluminum casting to prevent any "weeping".

Eastwood, among others, carries it as brush-on or rattle-can.

I will be trying it out.
