jack's newbie question of the day-increasing comp

Re: jack's newbie question of the day-increasing c

That would probably have been the article for the Triumph 2000/2500/2·5 Register by Chris Witor

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]use a 219016 head, which flows 10 CFM more @ .500" lift than earlier heads. Valve seat widths and shape are the most critical part of a good head job [/QUOTE]

219019, are you sure it is not 219015? that would mean it was used on TR6 PI from CR2936 and late GT6 Mk3,
Uses a 30.3mm exhaust valve and 8 1/8 pushrod length.
The raised coasting number would be 313248.
Used on a TR6 it would have a compression ratio of 9.5:1

218227, for TR6 Carb
Uses a 32mm exhaust valve
The raised coasting number would be 313247.
And it has a squared EGR hump
Has a compression ratio of 7.5:1, not very good eh?

I double check them and the head on car is a 219019 (see pic)but it does have a raised casting number of 313247 but the erg hump was drilled at some point and is now filled with a bolt.

A strange thing is, one of the PO's put aluminum valve collars.

219019 head discussion BCF

From BOBH's post.
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:] The wide port head was used on the PI cars. That implies they are better. You can also read this article by Chris Witor to gain an understanding of the better flow characteristics of the 219016 head.
https://www.tr6.org/cylheads/index.html
The 219019 head is the low compression version of the 219016. The 219019 was used on the late model US spec TR6. I don't know when it they started using this head. I suspect it came with the introduction of the EGR valve.
