Guilty of not following popular television, since this is the first time I've heard of her, apparently I should have... 
Did a little web research, including some of the doubters... She does remind me a little of one singer from South Africa - named Nomfusi - who is tiny and has an incredibly powerful voice... I've met Nomfusi before through a local festival I'm involved with...

A video for the proof... And that's a good friend of mine on the hand drums Luis "El Pana" Tovar, an incredible drummer from South America who has chosen to live in the great white north... But listen to a Calgary performance by Nomfusi... :thumbsup:
