Jack strap color

Hello all:

I did a search but couldn't find info on the color or the jack strap used on a BJ8. I read somewhere that it's black but the old original one I have, although greasy and dirty appears brown. Also, a new reproduction one I have is also brownish.

Anyone know for sure the original color?

Thanks,

It's a dirty and greasy brown. Getting the brown part is easy. it's the dirty and greasy part that takes some effort.

JeffR, be sure and ask that fella "SHG" where you get them complete with the accumulated dirt and grease. He knows a secret supplier.--Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Naw TH, that one he uses for shows only. This one is just plain brown leather.

The jack strap is a black cotton webbing.

If you mean spare tyre strap, it is brown leather.

Only if you don't wash it regularly. And check your spelling.

What am I missing here? The jack strap is black, whether or not you wash it.

And I don't see any misspellings.

Am I having a bad day, or are you? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

So there I was, so proud of myself for being the only one who could read, noticing that the question was about the jack strap (not the spare tyre strap), and feeling good about getting things back on track, and all of a sudden I get snapped in the rear with a towel in this locker room of Healey jockeys... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

Thanks, everyone for the information (and humor) on the jack strap.

I think I will dye my reproduction "brown" cotton strap black with some Ritz dye and while I'm at it have the local shoe store replace the stiches with two solid rivets.

If every thing goes well, this 4 year project on my original
metallic golden beige BJ8 will be finished in time for the Vermont Concours.

thanks again, all

Jeff
