Watch the welded seams. I've seen more than one where the weld bead veers off from the seam, leaving a very weak joint. That's not Harbor Freight specific either.
 
I think maybe the message is, no matter where from or what brand, redundant car support is a good thing.

Right now I have my car on jackstands, and wheel ramps under the wheels... if one fails hopefully the other will take over and my head will remain spherical!
 
not trying to hijack this thread...but does anyone have a source for a lightweight 12v jack? someone helped me secure a brake caliper in the Pocono Manor parking lot with one they carried in the trunk of their MGB. Worked like a charm and sure beat trying to use the OEM car jack. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/square.gif

You mean one that plugs into a cigar lighter?
 
Yes Tony, about 1/2 the size of the basic floor jack and seemed to handle the SP with no strain. Unfortunately, the nice guy that had it died this week of complications from bone cancer, so I've lost my chance to get a brand name.
 
...yikes!.. they both remind me of something you would see in a cheesy martha stewart mail order catalog. Oh sorry Basil...I meant..uh...Maggie Hewart....
I especially like the upgrade option for taller vehicles:
