Jack's progress reports inspired me to give an update on my progress. Tony sent a bunch of sheet metal and this is the current state of affairs. The car looked a lot better before I stripped the bondo, some 3/4" thick in places. The car was so bad that I opted not to dip it - just seemed a waste since so much will be replaced anyways. So for all those that are discouraged with your project progress don't be...it could be worse. Body items to be replaced:
Inner and outer sills both sides
Floors
Rear bulkhead
Right spring hanger
Left rear quarter panel
Rear deck
A pillars both sides
Cross member left side

My guideing principle was a body with no rust. And I got it thanks to JollyRoger.

What weighs more? Rust or virgin metal?

I was like Jack, my goal was as rust free as posible and I found it. So far the engine is the rustiest part of my car (Thank God!!)

I really wish that everyone here doing restorations of any type would document and post online. When I used to restore Porsches the group that I corresponded with were all great about documentation. It really helps the marque in my opinion by giving people new to restoaration a "guide" or visual representaion of the process. It really shows tham anything's possible if you are determined enough.

I posted a request to this forum months ago and got very little response. Thanks to all who do post their photo galleries.

I will start posting photos, if members wish to see them. Not as deligently as Jack, since I have FT job and work on the LBC at night.

Tony - I just couldn't scrap it, and it makes me feel better about doing some mods to it (1275, 5 speed, windscreen, etc) since it is not original.
Yes it is a walkout basement. I'm still building the garage and there isn't heat in there yet. The spridgets fit in the basement fine.

No that is one of two Sprites I bought a few months back. Mike's car is in the garage right now. I need to put a new suspension under it and build an engine. Mike kept the suspension for his street car, and is selling the engines seperately. I didn't really want to just buy a race ready car.
