This left me pretty speechless too. I bought Jack's upgraded stub axles a couple of years ago and he was great to work with..... Reccently he took on the manufacturing of seat brackets for installing Miata seats. He was always looking for ways to improve things for our cars or to make them safer. He was a true FOT.
 
As I said in the other thread, he at least got to die doing what he loved most. Will the rest of us be that lucky?

Lime Rock Park was closed down for an hour and half today to honor Paul Newman. He was attended by his family, close friends, Skip Barber, mechanics on his race team, and those who happened to be at the track. PLN toured the track in his Corvette race car with his Buick V8 powered Volvo station wagon following. He had come to say goodbye. Diagnosed with terminal cancer he is not expected to live beyond September. Race driver, actor, humanitarian, family man and friend, they did not come any better."

That says it all Paul. They don't come any better than you. Safe journey.
 
What a shame. He and I were just emailing about the Miata seat brackets. My brackets arrived on Friday

He (Uncle Jack) will be missed by many in the Triumph community for a long time to come.

I would expect that Tony and/or Joe Alexander will continue supplying Jacks TR parts.
 
For those attending Watkins Glen, the Friends of Triumph look to be making this a tribute event for Jack, I believe their plan is a memorial on Saturday night. If you have time to stop by at their tent to pay respect to Jack, I'm sure it will be appreciated - they look to be a tight knit bunch and Jack's passing left a big hole. Personally, I never met Jack though I've bought a few nice parts off his close pal Joe Alexander - but it was obvious to me that Jack was a special guy and friend to many people and he will be missed.

Seems clear he was unconscious before the wreck. FWIW, he had apparently been having some trouble with low blood pressure after a heart valve replacement, so it's possible he passed out from low BP.

It's always too soon, but if you've got to go, falling asleep while doing something you love has got to be the best way to do it.
