Jack, do you have your taps ready?

Yep, block was boiled and preped by an engine rebuilder, all the threades were nicely clean etc etc.

This started out as the body is being painted and thought paint in captured nuts would be a real pain if not impossable without cleaning them.

Not only that but I ususally learn something, lol.
 
Just a word about taps (I don't really do dies), the relation between tap size and money spent is reverse!
The smaller the tap the easier it is to break, you can get away with fairly cheap taps at 1/4"+. Below that - buy the best you can afford (I recommend Sumitomo/OSG or Kennametal)
Niagra is good for the price too.
There are places to save money, but small taps ain't one of em!
