IXORA

People keep asking what IXORA means. It is on the license plate of Linda's car I gave her for her birthday.

I chose the plate just for her car.

If anyone can figure out it's meaning and come close to why it was chosen, and post the response here on the forum, I will pour a round on the house to all Healey drivers. (By that I mean I will fill Healey gas tanks FOR FREE on a day agreed to by all participating Healey drivers willing to come by Beach City Gas Station in Santa Cruz all at one time sometime in the next six months.)

Happy New Year--And Best of Luck on this. It should not be too hard!

Ixora are flowering plants; their blossoms are red.

Nuff said

Brian,

I pulled this down from the web. From it I might make a connection that Ixora has a positive medicinal or soothing and healing effect. Also the sharp point or needle may refer to that similar to a rose. Every rose has it's thorns or take the good with the bad.

Tracy

Ixora coccinea L.
Family: Rubiaceae
Common Names: ~Flame Of The Wood~ ~Jungle Flame~ ~Jungle Geranium~ ~Burning Love~

Ixora is native to India and Sri Lanka. In Malaysia it's known as ~Bunga Jarum~ The word ~jarum~ meaning needle in reference to its needle shaped flowers. In Thailand it is called the ~needle flower.~ The roots of the ixoras are used for medicinal purposes.

Did I forget to mention Burning Love? Brian are you a hopeless romantic?

BTW are you guys going to Tahoe?

hmmm ... it requires FULL SUN!!

I also found out it is not expensive so that has nothing to do with Healeys!!

Cheers,
John

In latin it may mean "Ninth Hour".

I can't tell clearly from the photo. Does Linda have a "red top" like the Ixora?

But there is one more connection left to be noted...
So keep thinking on this one.

OK, OK, OK....

Here's the rest of the story.

Linda has her professional training and employment in the horticulture industry.

So...

We still need to find a way to bring about a dozen Healey's to Beach City Gas. I'll fill the tanks for free, if you all come over. We can make a great photo op.

The dead give away is you can see her green thumb on the steering wheel.

Hey Bri,

Well I have my entire front end off now and have my welder scheduled to come by a week from Friday to put on new shock tower top plates, sway bar mounts and a rear lower A arm mount. Whew! Amazing the stuff one finds. Anyway I'll be rebuilding all that stuff over the next few weeks and have continued to put off pulling the tranny for new syncros. Hopefully I'll be ready to drive again by the time this rain stops.

So the last part was that your wife has a green thumb???

Oh ... that was going to be my next guess ...

With the BJ7 undergoing restoration, it will probably be a year before I could make it up for the free gas (unless I just bring the tank!) Thanks for the offer anyway
