After having this car for 34 years and one "professional" rust repair job back in '81, and the car sitting outdors under a cover for 14 years, I thought it was time to do it right. I will say, this was not completely inspired by Ben's beautiful blue BE and Jack's beautiful Miss Agatha. It was also inspired by the people here in Denmark, who thumb their noses at the tax man and rebuild older cars rather than paying taxes for new cars.

Unfortunately this car, which I've had since I was 15 had a major accident back in the middle 60's. The back and front were replaced, and despite supposed quality repair of the time, and the fact that it really did hold all these years, it just wasn't well done.

Rust has now eaten up the rear bulkhead and spring mounts. The floors were repaired with apparently 16 ga steel (1.6 mm) plate.

New parts are coming from frogeyespares and I will just have to spend some quality time alone with only me, the MIG, and the radio. It's a good thing that I really LIKE this kind of work!

Well, here is two days worth of dismantling.

Oh, pics did not work.

hey that's great ... with jack finishing miss agatha, we need some more members to join the conga line!

Yep, we need another saga to follow. This one seems like a little more of an undertaking than Miss Agatha or Ben's car.

I can't wait to see the "before" pictures.

Yeah, I got lots of pics... and I will post them, but first I must make dinner for my daughter.

The parts are ordered, at least for the floors, rear bulkhead, side panels, floor/bulkhead reinforcements trunk floor and behind the rear wheels.

The bonnet isn't exactly nice, but it will get done after the main tub.

I'd say you're in up to yer eyeballs, Donn!!!! Certainly can't accuse ya of half-doin' a job! Keep us up on progress. WOW!

...hope that AR115 is a reliable one. You're gonna need "airin' out" once-in-a-while! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

"half-doin" are you trying to be punny Doc?

Wow, that project makes mine look like child's play.

Oh my, he's bringing one back from the grave. Good Oh. What a wonderful thing.

Got a name for it yet?
That's a mighty project, very best of luck to you both.

Donn, you are a brave and talented soul, sir /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif !! We will follow your progress with great interest and I am sure I speak for everyone here, with whatever assistance we can provide /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif !! I would wish you luck, but I do not think that you need that so much as patience /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif !!

Do you have a giant spool of MIG welding wire and a tanker truck of Argon? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Looks like fun!

Donn, you and Frank (spritenut) should hook up some day. That's a car most would have written off as scrap. Hope you're enjoying the work, and it sure is wonderful to see one more little Bugeye heading back to the road.
