I had to help two friends out w/ auto repair today. Wrong parts, total PITA to fix. Shoulda been a two second job that turned into an all day affair. Still waiting for friend B to get back with parts for seconf job. ( headlight R&R, had to pull grill to get headlight out.)

Grease under me nails and scraped up. I've had it with fixing stuff. I HATE IT !!! I'm done I tell ya, DONE!!! I'll fix me Midget and personal stuff. Help a widda out or two but I'm NOT doing this for a living ANYMORE!

So, upcomming multi media art show in December jurored by a well known abstract artist. I have a piece I've recently done that needs a bit of tweaking to qualify. I started on it yesterday and threw a bolw while the wife taught a raku class. It felt great working with her. We've always worked "together independantly". This is the first time we have been in the same grove.

I guess I can be an "artist". I've only entered one show and got 3rd ( my friend and I placed over our wives, funny story). I've sold several pieces I've done already. (O.k, the planters are more of a functional piece than art, but they sold just as well.)

So I want my own wheel. I call the wife and ask her which one ~she~ would like. I figure if I get bored with it, she won't be upset we spent the $$$. her studio is 25 miles away one way. I'd like to have something here at the house we can use. I told her it was a Christmas present for both of us, then said it was just for her. The model we ordered is left or right hand specific. I throw left, her right. I can throw right ( I did yesterday) but figured I better say it's for her so I can get another wheel if right doesn't work out.
(She can use this on for demos)

Wish me luck at the show; groceries depend on it.

Best of luck to you, Billy. Art (music in my case) has served me well as both business and passion over the years. It's not my full time gig, but it has filled in the financial cracks for many years.

We'll be routing for you!

If I had the patience I'd prefer music instead. I get fustrated when I don't growe as fast as I feel I should. I still have my guitar, but never use it.

Can't you get a wheel that runs both ways? We have a basic one that'll center 50 lbs (more than ~I~ can handle so far) and runs either direction.

Another option: Hand build! No wheel needed.

You can get a small slab roller for less than a wheel. And if hand building doesn't work out you can always make pie crusts with it and become a baker.

Good luck!

And we will be using the latest 802.11n router too!

I wondered who would catch that ...

But then I'm much too old school. Here's the way I'm routing:

i am still trying to work out this "throw left" and "throw right" thing.... you mean it makes a different?

Wheel rotaion. Throw is a misnomer and I hate the term actually. If you are right handed the wheel turns CCW. Most are reversible, this one isn't.

I guess throw comes from having to throw the clay on the wheel or the clay getting thrown off when things go wrong.

I have felt like throwing the wheel across the room on a few occartions. Mebbe that's why the older ones weigh 100 pounds.

Being a professioanl artist is not unlike taking a vow of poverty.

There's a reason the term "Starving Artist" is known world wide. I hope your endeavor is a great success. Maybe someday my planter will be worth a small fortune....hehehehe. It sure looks great growing tomatoes in our garden. I love it. I need to bring it in soon. I have left it cause the Greek oregano in the top is still going.

They are great for herbs. I'm about to fire mine back up w/ parsley and basil.

Glad to see you're still enjoying it. For me that's the juice. I don't care ( or want) fame or fortune, just that it makes people happy.

Sure beats growing stuff in a plastic bag.

YOu mean wohs. Uoy tsum eb lexdystic osla!

Had a good day at the studio today. Threw a few piece for the wife to sell. Made some extra centers for the piece I'm working on. Spoke to a artist friend about the concept I'm working on and she really liked it. I had one part hanging on the wall aready and she really digs it. I'll post pics when it's done. It's continuously evolving. I keep comming up with ways to improve the concept. This is really great. One of the biggest things I miss from being on the team is fab work. "Oooow, I can do it like THIS" is a great feeling. I'm having fun. I shoulda done this a long time ago. I married an artist and own an art studio so why not!

The wife and I were bounching ideas for the studio off on another one the way home. It's cool to be on the same plane.

I'm still working on her web site. Hopefully I'll be able to show off some of her work to you guys soon.
