I've been taken-Need Your help

We all participate in this hobby because we love our LBC's.
As I have found out through the years, most of the rank and file of this hobby are working class guys that like to work on their own cars, value their money and rely on reputable suppliers to furnish the parts.

In April of this year, I placed a large order with a certain "Proper MG" supplier. They got my money and have given me the runaround for almost three months now and I have nothing to show for it. Over the last three weeks they have stopped answering their phones. As a warning to anyone reading this post, do not place an order with this company. I Googled this company and came across two similar complaints on the Antique Automobile Association website.

I am trying to formulate a strategy to see what can be done for those that have been taken.

If any member can shed some light on this company and/or has had a similar experience, I would like to know. Please post or email me as there is power in numbers. I am sorry if this is not the correct forum for this but I am really PO'd and do not want anybody else to go through this.

Not sure what the situation is, but if you paid for goods/services with a credit card, and have an issue, you have leverage.

Call the card issuer, calmly explain the situation, including any documentation/dates/details and ask for the charges to be reversed/disputed. That will get their attention.

Re: I've been taken-Need Your help

There have been several horror stories about these folks at the MGB Experience website.

Re: I've been taken-Need Your help

Unless I missed something, WHO are we talking about?? Let the world know who these people are! PJ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: I've been taken-Need Your help

Somebody PM me their name please......

I'll help w/ a couple of recent problems.
(Most of my problems are associated w/ quality labor)

Beware the MGA close ratio gear set....Too much main shaft end-float.

The MGA tail-shaft housing bushing is too large in dia.

Inspect Re-maned lay-shafts for poor machining & stress risers.

And above all.....Do everything yourself.......

You can't possibly screw it up any more than MOST of the people who earn a living doing it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Re: I've been taken-Need Your help

I did not know that 'The Proper MG' was still around. If this business is who I believe it is , it started as 'Phoenix Distribution' in the early nineties. I became a distributor for them and bought thousands of dollars of good quality british parts. One day they 'forgot' who I was and appeared to want to sell strictly retail. It's a shame . In the beginning this company looked to be a good alternative to the big three.

Re: I've been taken-Need Your help

Thanks Guys. The amazing thing is that the website for The Proper MG is still up. Please tell all to stay away.

If you know of anyone who has also been taken, have them send me an email.

Thanks again

Re: I've been taken-Need Your help

Thinking back I am not too surprised that they left people hanging. They never said anything to me when they decided not to discount to me anymore. All that needed to be said is that they were dropping the few distributors that they had. But nothing...just charged me retail to run me off.
