Just got back from a visit to th' Collier Collection.

...no pix, sorry. But amazing history contained in there.

To my sheer disappointment there was only ONE Lotus. But it was a "neat as a pin" early Elite.

And I even got to piddle around inspecting a Packard V-12!

I was with friends and strangers, all in a group. Tours are by appointment, the place is astounding. Highly recommended!!!

Is that the same "Collier" as in Miles and his brother? early MG racers?

yup.

Lucky guy, indeed. Did you buy a lottery ticket to keep the good luck running?

Her Indoors is in charge of all "chance" allowance, Paul.

The fellas in this group are folk I've known for three decades or more. It came from outta th' blue, so I figger I won that lottery. We had opportunity to natter a bit (not NEARLY enuff!) and most of the group have owned or been directly involved with a few cars in that collection.

"Six Degrees" is about three more than THIS bunch have with some of what's there. It was an uplifting and cathartic reunion. A day of joy fer me.

Ferrari and Porsche cars of note... on a VERY personal level.

One of our "group" once owned the 904 in that collection. I have the honor of calling him a friend. Another played at making "Vroom-VROOM" noises as he sat in the driver's seat (at age six) of the LM there. It was owned by the maternal side of his family. I last saw him when he was 15.

Whole experience was close to surreal. Th' song "Cloud 9" comes to mind.

You gotta get yer butt DOWN here, John. I went there in a Carrera S4 owned and driven by... err... your NEIGHBOR!!!

...and did I mention we're listenin' to Jimmy?
