Winter's Officially over here in Sunny Florida. I've had the first mosquito gnaw on me. By all reckoning I've done the area a service and wiped out several thousand end-of-season biters tho.

*SMOOSH!*

Li'l bastage won't have th' guts t' bite ME again, fer-shure.

Well Doc,I've been getting dive bombed for the last two weeks or more.Seems these blighters hatch faster than we kill them! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

No sympathy here.

Our forecast here has been headlined "Some snow" for the last 12 hours or so.

The fine print reads "10-12 inches accumulation, changing to sleet and freezing rain".

Just as well - mud season was getting old anyway.

I'm not complaining, but we've been in the 60s for the last week. Planning on a motorcycle ride this weekend.

Of course, we'll still have snow on the ground again. Spring in the mountains!

Yeah, I got the weather report for the north eastern areas this AM from First Wife: "Nor'easter, anywhere between 2 and 12" for the Philly region"!!!

GAH! I'll slap a few bugs fer y'all. And mebbe have a rum drink of some description in your honour./bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

side ach, there is such a place and ive been there "siberia" got em both at the same time. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/pukeface.gif

Also included in that missive: "Groundhogs must DIE!"

Had one of 2 "snow" days in north Alabama today...had a horrendous rain last night & this morning the ground was solid white with Bradford Pear flowers!! hehehehe

Other 'snow' day is when the farmers take their cotton to market...roadsides are white from cotton falling off truck.

Snow and skeeters....yep, that's Wisconsin, though they are not around at the same time. The Wisconsin state bird is the mosquito.......

So, you don't have skeeters year round down where you are, Doc?

Not as profusely as "summer". Li'l nasties pro'lly MIGRATE somewhere. 'course "winter" only lasts a few weeks, too. They can't get far before they gotta turn around and come back. Naples or Miami, I'd guess. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

bugs... the one thing i don't miss about the southeast. Too dry in these parts for skeeters to really be a problem. Though, fleas and ants can be a problem... the season for those critters is about here for us.

When I lived in South Texas {Corpus,Christi} I did see it snow about 6 inches on xmas eve once in ten years. Skeeters, I`m here to attest that Mosquitos in South Texas have LANDING LIGHTS! And Bitters they are! There is one strange little bug down there the locals call skeeter eaters. Looks somewhat like a skeeter but a little different shape, these critters actually lay in ambush waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting skeeter. And BTW they do also fly. It is quite a sight to see the ensuing battle between this skeeter eater and the skeeter. Of course the skeeter eater wins out in the end. We need to capture these skeeter eaters and breed millions of em so every state can have some in thier skeeter fighting arsonal.
Oh and ..... Skeeters in Utah, ......... for sure....... I have encountered the buggars at 10,000 ft. above sea level while riding A.T.V.`s on the mouintain. And yes ... If you stop long enough for them to land you WILL get bit.

Snowing here in Bedford (outside of Boston) MA right now. All of us were planning on going out to dinner but elected to find someplace close to our hotel rather than driving into Boston in Friday night traffic.

Weather man says we expecting another 1-3 inches but looking out my window it looks more like we’ve got that & then some. Should turn to heavy rain tomorrow morning with continued showers in the afternoon. Probably going to be a mess getting to the Airport, sure hope my flight home tomorrow night isn’t delayed. Cause I’m ready to go home.

Same here Doc-
Winter must be over. Shopping in the grocery this
afternoon a skeeter chomped me on the butt something
fierce.

Hustled right over to isle No. 9 and got me a sport
bottle of Off with 30% Deet. The carabiner clip makes
it officially a sport container, dontcha know!!
