It's hot as Hades here in Irving at the VTR....

Guys, I'm dying here. It got up to 110 yesterday here in the Dallas area. The hotel for the headquarters for the VTR nationals is quite nice, but 9 bottles of water per day (over $20, where is Walmart when I need them)and I am still dehydrating. The good news is most of the rest of you are suffering this same heat wave.

The convention is a bit unorganized but ok. Not a huge turnout (less than 200 cars) but I am impressed that there is a core group of diehards that do these things every year and have driven in from California to the East Coast. Met this guy from Cal (Herman somethingorother), nice guy, that is 71, drove his pristine 250 in all the way and still looking chipper. This guy has forgotten more about Triumphs than I will ever know. Needless to say, I am constantly picking his brain!
I will try the Autocross tomorrow, hope I don't blow that rear seal completely and screw up my clutch. That 9 hour drive home is bad enough without limping home.

Wish me well. That is , that I survive the heat. They don't give ribbons for coming in last in races, but I will be a winner anyway...

Like is good.

Rock on.

Thanks for the report, Bill. And I feel for ya in the heat. Stay out of it as much as you can.

Herman is probably Herman van den Akker. He's the person who designed and developed the Toyota Supra transmission conversion. He has a TR250.

Doesn't Herman also own a TVR?

Bill,
You should absolutly pick Hermans brain. He is one of the nicest guys on the planet. He & his wife, Helena make this journey like you & I go to the corner store (although you seem to get around). He is amazing in his dedication to the TR crowd. He is the inventor of the Toyota trany conversion, Blind Moose shock conversion & other TR dedicated products. Herman also does machine work for many of the vintage racers in his area. A retired airplane mechanic, he is talented. He loves to talk TR and make friends. Enjoy him , he's a dying breed.

Have a great time and thanks for the updates for the crowd that couldn't make it.

Herman also has a TR6, is a retired machinist/tool maker and a great friend. He's driven his TR250 from LA to Portland, Maine for a VTR convention, several TRF Summer parties, the pacific northwest for events and more. Quite dedicated to the hobby. Tell him that Bob says "Hi"
