It's Electric'

Actually, I think it's pretty neat. At least it didn't wind up at the crusher.

My mechanical engineering students created their own mini-electric vehicle competition (as a project for our SAE chapter). They call it ~Formula CCM~

It's a lot less sophisticated than the Spitfire above, but we can build one for about $125.

We've got several, local schools building them and challenging us and we'll looking to get other groups to join in (Boy Scouts, church groups or whatever).

It's a nice engineering project and it's fun too. We've got three running at school plus a fourth "loaner" that we lend out for others to inspect and check out..

Anyone else is welcome to build one and challenge us

Very neat. I'd rather have this than a Smart Car or something.

Final cost much cheaper than a Smart, in the long run, more eco-friendly than a Smart, and 100X the coolness a Smart could ever imagine having.

Awesome job. Hopefully, that Spit will be kept and even further restored. I wonder what the actual plans are for it--Ebay????

Agreed, the result is a great way of saving a motorless Spit from the crusher -with no permanent changes even.

Given the interest the car's drive train was going to generate, I was a little surprised to see all that new tech being bolted into a rusted chassis / engine compartment: a little more time spent with the sprayer could have done wonders...

Cheers,

Doug
