It's dead - Help

Fuel hose is really cheap and really easy to replace. If it even looks old and dry, I'd just replace the rubber hoses rather than try to troubleshoot them. It can't do any harm and, at the very least, you've elimnated one variable...

It was intermittant based on how the hse would flex. If I moved the hose an inch or two towards the battery, the pump would starve. Move it back and it would get suction again. Even though I had been battling it for over a week, I was incredibly relieved to figure that one out! LOL! Sure beat a bad fuel pump.

Every one of these steps will leave you more intimate with the car and better prepared to deal with problems in the future.

I've gotta say, you guys are pretty darn good. My oil stained, filthy, grimy, weird smellin' hats off to you. For those playing at home the "leak-in-the-hose" camp wins; sort of. The problem started before I started taking steps to fix it (obviously, but that is important). In re-fitting the gas tank after trying to fix the original issue, I did not tighten the fuel line out of the tank enough. It wasn't leaking gas, but it sure wasn't air tight. Once I tightened that down the new pump worked like a charm. The filter filled to about 75% full in a couple seconds. Yes, if this place is a village, I'm the idiot. I haven't had a chance to test drive the car and see if the new fuel pump fixed the original problem yet or not, but I will tomorrow, on my way to work. Anyone have a 4-leaf clover I can borrow?
Thanks again everyone for the help. Hopefully I'll make the track Sat. where I'll be handing out British Car Forum newsletters and spreading the word about how smarted ya'll is.

Thanks everyone,

Tyler

I don't have a four leave clover, but I will write an excuse for you to your boss if you are late for work!

Good luck!v /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
