Hey everybody,
I'ts been quite a while since I last visited.
Some of you veterans may remember I try to keep my 67 TR4a happy.
And so it goes.............
I'm taking a pretty big step with my long time friends wheel and axel shop preparing to do some work.
Anyway......................I'm doing a few little chores before she goes in and I can't for the life of me remember the size of the gearbox plug wrench.
I ran into this a couple of years back and was bailed out by a mechanic that let's me use the lift on friday afternoons.
As I recall it is a square plug but not something I had in my tool kit.
Now I don't have overdrive, somebody made sure they got that particular part prior to my ownership, so I run a rebuilt TR3 gearbox.
If this is a really dumb post ,you'll know Winston is back.

7/16" square, if you have the stock plug and it hasn't been rounded off, chewed up, etc. Any decent tool store (even Sears) should have a 7/16" 8-point socket that is less apt to round it off than using an open end wrench (or a 12 point socket or wrench).

However, my preference is to convert to a hex socket plug, which turns with a standard Allen wrench. Much less apt to round, or to pick up a rock and get mangled. And they are available in magnetic for drain plugs.

Here's one being installed on my Stag diff
