It's alive!! [up-date on my project]

So I was messing around with my 75 project MGB yesterday, and started playing with the engine, following the 'awakening a sleeping B' procedure, and cleaned up the engine. I changed the oil, flushed the coolant, replaced the air filter on the ZC carb, and cleaned it up with some carb cleaner.

I couldn't get the plugs out, so they're soaking in penetrating lube, and I cleaned up the dist. and replaced the wires.

Now the car is on blocks, with no exhaust, brakes, and the suspension is half taken apart, so I wasn't planning on moving, but I replaced the battery, and was sitting in the car playing around.

All switches and electronics work! The flashers flash, the blinkers blink, and the horn honks. It's great! I even had the wipers going..

But then I got ballsy. I decided to crank her over.

Nuthin. hhmm.. Gimme some starting fluid. Spray it in there...

Crank again... wait. I think something's happening.. nope.. not yet.

One more time, before I break something...

click.. click... a little gas.. cli** Vrrrrooooooommmmmmm!!!!!

No smoke, no hesitation, just sittin there, exhaustless, idling away. Oil pressure up around 55-60, nothing leaking, spraying, or chocking. She sat there and idled for a few minutes, I let her warm up a bit, then cut her off.

Wow. That was unexpected. Scared the heck out of me. The engine runs, and doesn't show any signs of trouble. I'm so excited!

So.. Now I can pump some $$$ into her without having to worry about that..

I think most of us her have had that experience...the excitment of getting started...and finding out the engine runs is a major milestone.

Now open your wallet and say "ah" this won't hurt a bit

well be carefull with that if its sitting up on blocks and no brakes sometimes on the late 70's mgbs the engine will tend to run on and it would be kinda hard to turn it off without stalling it
