Right now Ernie's taxi cab is on display in the lobby of America On Wheels museum. The car was in pieces in California for years, but when the potential restorer finally decided that he would never get it back together, he sold it to jewelry manufacturer Nicola Bulgari, who had it shipped to his shops in Allentown PA where it was restored over the last two and 1/2 years. Mr. Bulgari decided to let our museum be the location of the first public showing of the car and we are proud to have it for the month of December.

Also, we had the ribbon cutting for our newly restored 1953 Bastian-Blessing soda fountain in our new HubCap Cafe last night. The museum was able to purchase the entire back bar, soda fountain, 12 stools, six booths, Hamilton Beach shake machine, dishes, etc in one package, and the installation was finished in time for the gala this weekend.

More photos of the soda fountain and the 3rd annual Gala and more of the museum can be seen here.

That is tooooo cool!!!!

I'm sendin' this to folk who'll show up, Dave.

Absolutely PRECIOUS!!

Great...we love having visitors. It has been slow starting the museum. Opening in April of 2008 as the economy tanked and people stopped traveling was tough, but it has been a really exciting time for the last few months, and the crowds have grown lately. I know I have a few personal tours lined up in the next few weeks.

nice!

Excellent! The Hershey museum has an actual antique, 8 stool diner inside it. Sort of a similar idea. We were there a few months ago.

VRG is hoping to have its Winter meeting at your place. I missed last year, but maybe I'll finally get over to see the place this year.

Way cool! Are you sure that was Elvis? Looks like it coulda been Doc in disguise!

Zu-Zu's pedals!
Merry Christmas Bedford Falls!!!
I love that movie.

Very nice memory trigger! If I'm in your area the museum will be on my/0ur list.

Bert was the cop and Ernie was the cab driver in the Frank Capra movie "It's A Wonderful Life" starring Jimmy Stewart.

Look where they ended up.... After long wonderful careers in the studio system, type cast as muppets.

Jim Henson always denied it, but I seems too obvious to be a coincidence.

You will need to get here in December...it is just a one month loan as of right now. The car's owner, Nicloa Bulgari, says he plans to use it for personal transportation when his friends visit the Bulgari jewelry store on New York's Fifth Avenue.

Guess I'll have to visit the jewelry store, tee, hee.
