It's a bit more tidy now.

OK, not exactly a beauty-queen paint-job. But I hosed off the car last week and gave it a quick re-spray.
It still looks like a bumpy, imperfect warhorse...that's OK.

And now, it has two matching front fenders. Unlike ~Before~

For the last two years, the left front fender has been from a '77 and the right side's been from a '64. Now it has a '63 left front fender. The left rear fender is from a '67 and right rear is the original '78 fender. And both rear fenders have been radiused like my '72 car. It's got the original 3.9 diff but stuck in a '67 axle housing (I bent the original in a crash). The motor is from a '77 Spit. The carb is intended for a 1200 Harley. Not exactly a "numbers matching" car.

I've swapped the number to "909" like my race-Escort. The vintage races have much bigger fields and everyone seems to have "11".
I hate swapping numbers at the track and nobody seems to have "909" so that works for me
(plus a lot of the guys *get* ~The Beatles Reference~ ).

I did a ton of mechanical work to this thing in the last three weeks plus some welding. Ditched the windshield too (not needed for vintage racing). I'm trying to get everything done and out of the way so I can start working on the MGB.

I reinstalled a Sprite grill and left most of the decals and tickers off this time.....the vintage crowd prefers plainer cars with less decals and stickers. The NASCAR guys would never fit in with the vintage gang.

I'm towing it to Louden, New Hamphsire this coming weekend for it's first '08 outing. Hope to get some good in-car video. And praying for no rain (about 25% chance of precip. right now).

Gotta change my little "#11" picture at the bottom of the page now....

Nial,

I've said it before... I'll say it again...

You're my hero.

:iagree:

Looks good Nial. My car isn't ready yet, but I may be in the Manchester / Laconia area this weekend. What is the spectator attendance policy?

This is where I'm at with the Midget, I brought the old tub to the scrap yard on Saturday.

Chris, no alternator or generator? How did you fit that belt?

Morris / JP: I'm blushing! :jester:

Chris:

That's looking really good....you've made great progress starting with a just a tub.

The New Hampshire Vintage is a spectator event (which is why it's only a $130 race entry fee for the three days....it's a money-maker for the track).

Spectator fee is $25. Unfortunately, it's about 50% chance of rain all weekend, but we'll be there no matter what.
You're more than welcome to join us if you show up.

I can answer that, just get it started and roll it on by turnng the crank bolt over with wrench or socket, or alteast thats the way I do it.

Nice looking work from the both of you.
